Choosing the right hairstyle for you is dependent on many things – your lifestyle, your face structure, your skin tone, the texture of your hair etc.
Similar thought processes need to occur when selecting your summer kicks, even the hue of your polish.
SANDALS
Whether you choose modified gladiators, platform stilettos, wedges or beach sandals, the most important issue with regard to summer kicks is FIT. F-I-T.
1. No cliff hanger action
By this I mean either where the toes grabbing on to the front of the sandal for dear life (sometimes touching the ground)
or the heel hanging off the back. Either way – get a bigger size.
2. Select the right style
Not all sandals are created equal. Sometimes the size of the shoe is fine but the make of the shoe is just not for you.
For example those of us with shorter toes, it’s best to go for sandals with a shorter front lip than those with longer ones. This way it’s not that obvious that your toes are shorter than what manufacturer considers to be ‘average’. (i.e. there is a huge expanse of shoe material where your toes should be, and it seems like the thick strap across the front of the shoe is covering most, if not all of your toesies.
Depending on your foot, sometimes thong style sandals work better than the ones with those horizontal straps that go across the front of the toes. At the time of writing, I’m not sure if they have a specific, fancy name like ‘thong’ sandals. Sometimes a certain style may generally work, but the make itself isn’t right. Experiment with different styles and brands to get the one that fits you best.
Likewise if your foot is wider or narrower than the industry average, seek brands that offer different widths to accommodate you and your uniqueness. E.g. exhibit A.
Thanks for looking out AK!
POLISH
When choosing your nail polish/ patterns, consider your nail plate and size of your piggies.
The nail plate is the hardened portion of the nail that is visible; the part where ladies would normally put the nail polish. Check it.
If your nail plate is very short avoid french tipped toes. Why? Because this will make your nails look even shorter; You’d look like you only have half a nail.
Very tiny nail plates? Dark nail polish is fashionable but this too would make your nail plates look smaller. Lighter brighter colours give the appearance of a a larger nail area, and what luck? It’s summer! Try the season’s nudes, or tropical brights – corals, melons, yellows. Or better yet, fluorescent hues! Orange and Purple are my fav.
Nit picking? Maybe. But noone said getting it together was effortless. Why not figure out what works best for you rather than jumping on the trend bandwagon?

OMG No. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! For reals reals?
I don’t know about anyone else but that right here is what I’d call a “GLAMITYCALAMITY” y’alls. That just looks painful, like it’s gonna catch on something and rip off. <>
Again I quote… ” Likewise, if your foot is wider or narrower than the industry average, seek brands that offer different widths to accommodate you and your uniqueness.”
Nuff said.
